Explore the woods and mountains on horseback where you will have the opportunity to see the flora and fauna native to the area. Every season offers a different view. There are no lights to interfere with the incredible night sky and view of the stars. Watch hummingbirds, listen for whippoorwills and owls in addition to many other birds. We will explain how to care for horses and provide basic riding instructions. We'll answer any questions you have about horses, gardening, cooking, etc. We'll make sure you leave with all your questions answered. Arrive at the ranch at your leisure and spend the afternoon relaxing. Walk around the ranch's 90+acre farm, enjoy the countryside, the peace and quiet, absorb the rhythm of nature all around you, slow down the pace. Ahh, now you are on country time. And one of the delights of the countryside is the kitchen, where a home cooked meal awaits in the cowboy guest house. After dinner, enjoy watching the sun set on the mountains from the verandah. In the morning, baked treats await you and a hearty breakfast before its time to saddle up for a scenic ride two hour ride. Back at the ranch you are free to hike, read, nap swim, get in the hot tub, or relax- whatever your pleasure until dinner. Sleep awaits you and you awaken to another hearty breakfast. Then its time to saddle up as another ride through the beautiful Pennsylvania countryside for an hour and a half. By now not only are you in the country but the country is in you. You'll wish you didn't have to leave, but remember we are here for you to come on back and visit us again. We get our vegetables, eggs, milk and other dairy products from an organic farm less than 1/2 mile away. We recycle as much trash as possible. All linens and towels are dried on the line---and what a great smell when you finally get into bed!

Our secluded farm is located in the Appalachian Mountains of south central Pennsylvania. We are 100 miles west of Baltimore/Washington DC Metro area and 100 miles east of Pittsburgh. We are 5 hours west of New York City. Our rural setting provides views of mountains and valleys. We border 2000 acres of Pennsylvania State Game Lands for your hiking pleasure. The Potomac River, C&O Canal Towpath and Rails to Trails provide nearby opportunities for fishing, canoeing and biking.

Ranch life is casual, jeans will get you through your entire stay. Socks and sturdy shoes, in addition to long pants are required for riding. Insect repellent, sunscreen, and a hat will protect you in summer. Gloves and heavier clothes for fall and winter. Bathing attire for the pool and hot tub.
