Description

Smoke Rise is a working cattle and guest ranch that strives to respect the land and the environment located within and around its borders. We have cabins, camping, trails, ponds, a pool and clubhouse, indoor and outdoor arenas, cow working, lessons, trail rides and horse rentals, training and boarding, and much more. We work closely with the local forestry department on various projects such as invasive species control and woodland stand development, and plan to continue to do so for many years to come. We treasure the diversity SE Ohio has to offer and our best to protect it for our guests and future generations to enjoy.

Location

We are located in the rolling hills of SE Ohio and nestled between Wayne National Forest and Trimble Wildlife, and also intersect directly with the Ohio Buckeye Trail. The ranch hosts over 1,000 acres of diversity, from open meadows to challenging shale trails to creeks and pine forests to old hardwood, not to mention abundant wildlife, as well as maintain around 100 miles of trails.

Advice to our visitors

We are very flexible and provide activities for all skills levels and interests, from non-horse persons to beginners to national competitors, and we will gladly customize your stay to suit your needs. As mentioned above, we do cattle drives and working cow lessons, roping lessons, NRS sanctioned penning and sorting competitions, dinners, dances, train robberies, overnight rides, corporate outings, wedding receptions, rides to local towns to promote local tourism and business, hiking, swimming, and so much more. There are also many things in the area to do, such as visit Old Man's Cave, Stuart's Opera House, Rhapsody's Restaurant in Nelsonville, Hocking Hills Canopy Tours zip line, canoeing...Come and see for yourself how beautiful SE Ohio can be!
