Tom and Sarah (owners) have always enjoyed hosting family and friends and now welcome the opportunity to offer you a unique experience within the Amish and Mennonite culture of Lancaster County. Tom is informed on local culture and the history of the Amish and Mennonites. They can help you customize your county adventures and they can direct you to Amish health food, craft and furniture stores. If a quiet retreat is your wish, Walnut Lawn will accommodate you with a relaxing wrap-around porch and spacious common rooms. Walnut Lawn B&B supports the efforts of Green Hotels and attempts to maintain a healthy environment for all.

Location

We are located in mid-Atlantic area of the United States in Lancaster County amid the Amish country of Pennsylvania where the Amish still farm their lands with horses and mules. They do not use the modern machinery of other farmers and all are family farms. During all seasons of the year, visitors will see the Amish riding in their buggies, tilling soil or tending to their lands. They are committed to environmentally and healthy pratices in farming and in their lives. The countryside of Lancaster County has rolling hills and in some areas, you can only see farms. As visitors travel around the Amish countryside, they will see the numerous covered bridges that Pennsyslvania and Lancanster County has become famous for as part of our History.

Advice to our visitors

All visitors to Lancaster County and Pennsylvania should dress according to the weather. Our Spring is mild with a chance of cool weather and rains while the nights can be cooler. Our Summers are hot along with the evenings. All the national restaurants, shopping centers and theaters are air conditioned while the Amish and most Mennonite shops and restaurants are cooled by fans. Our Fall is mild and beautiful with the changing colors of the lanscape. Our Winters are cold but many of the shops, theaters and restaurants are open and adequately heated.
