Description

Built in 1895 and graciously welcoming guests since 1917, Barclay Cottage is located only a 3 minute walk from the Resort boardwalk and beach in an historic residential neighborhood. Filled with antiques, hand made quilts, and Victorian memorabilia, it is a throroughly modern facility, with every upscale amenity. A full gourmet breakfast is provided each morning. Complimentary snacks and hot and cold beverages are available 24/7, as are wine and home baked cookies. Fresh beach towels are provided guests daily and beach chairs, umbrellas, boogie-boards and bicycles are available for guest use.

Location

Virginia Beach is in the southeastern portion of Virginia called Hampton Roads or Tidewater. This area is characterized by flat coastal plains, beaches, dunes, ocean and bay waters, ponds and marshes. It is one of the largest cities geographically in the USA and has many interesting areas from the farms and orchards of Pungo to the ocean beaches of the Resort area, and cityscape of City Center.

Advice to our visitors

Leave the beach equipment home as it is provided at no charge, but do bring insect repellent, bathing suits, sunscreen, lip balm, and sunglasses. October-April one may do without insect repellent, but warm clothing will be necessary as the average temperatures hover in the low 50's F with occasional days into the 30's F or up into the 70's F.
